Slot Software Overview

There are dozens of casino platforms and slot software designers. Here we will try to break down the various developers and review them for you. A lot of slot providers are teaming up these days and slots from one developer are being released under the hood of another. Before we proceed with the slots providers overview itself, let me clump together a number of the providers who release slots from other designers:

IGT:

IGT, WagerWorks, International Gaming Technology, Action Gaming, EDT, Electronic Data Technologies, Sodak Gaming, Silicon Gaming, Acres Gaming, Anchor Gaming, Cyberview Technoloy, Double Down, GTECH

IGT is the biggest slot software provider in the world. There is hardly any casino that doesn’t have IGT slots and hardly any player that hasn’t played them.

iSoftBet:

iSoftbet, Merkur, Leander Gaming, Pariplay, Ezugi, SportRadar, Ainsworth, Playson, EGT Euro Games Technology

iSoftbet are an innovative online slot developer based in Luxembourg who are famous for their tv and movie branded online slots. They have a number of partnerships with other slot manufacturers but have most recently made a close partnership agreement with German company Merkur who are famous in countries like Germany and The Netherlands for their land based video slot consoles but who are now also moving into the online slot sphere.

Microgaming:

Microgaming, Quickfire, Rabcat, Genesys Gaming, Playson, Quickspin, Leander Gaming, Wagermill, Big Time Gaming, Mahi Gaming

Microgaming slots use the Quickfire platform for pushing the games out. There are a number of slot providers which make use of this technology under a partnership with Microgaming and can therefore fall into the Microgaming category. For the purposes of keeping this website clean and easy to navigate we will not be making separate pages for each.

Update: Microgaming have made the very smart decision to partner up with Quickspin as well and release Quickspin slots through their Quickfire platform now as well. This is definitely a big step forward for them.

NYX Gaming:

NYX Gaming, NextGen Gaming, Side City Studios, Elk Studios, Thunderkick, Blueprint Gaming, Amaya (Chartwell, Cryptlogic), Aristocrat, 1×2 Gaming, LEAP, Ainsworth, High5Games, Nektan, Casino Technology, Realistic Games, Lightning Box Games, Chance Interactive, Big Time Gaming, Saber Interactive, Incredible Technologies, Core Gaming, R Franco, iGaming2go

“NYX is ONE company with four game studios that supply over 600 market leading games to 170 operators worldwide. We’re the trusted partner to 90% of the world’s most powerful casino brands.”

There are a number of slot providers which also make use of the NYX OGS technology omni channel games aggregation platform under a partnership with NYX and can therefore also fall into the NYX Gaming category alongside the companies own studios. For the purposes of keeping this website clean and easy to navigate we will not be making separate pages for each.

In 2017, the company was acquired by Scientific Games, who also own Bally and WMS.

Odobo:

Odobo, The Games Company, Spicy Horce, CORE Gaming, Yoyougaming, AppleJack Gaming, Wild Game Reserve, Trimark, Granville Games, Revolver, Fuga Gaming Technologies, Touchstone Games, Sigma Gaming, Vermantia, Old Skool Studios, Inchinn Games, Foxium, Fantasy Factory, Jannio, Rabcat, Genesis Gaming, Lost World Games, Playson, Games Warehouse, Probability Jones, Lightning Box Games

Odobo is a HTML5 online slot development company which works together with smaller online slot developers and releases the slots under the Odobo platform to online casinos.

01/06/2016 : Odobo is closing: In 2011, we set out to disrupt and improve the way games are produced, distributed, marketed and enjoyed in regulated gaming. We aimed to address many of the challenges, costs, and barriers associated with content production while improving and expanding the quality of the games offered to casino players.

Many operators and developers supported this vision; we have had the privilege of integrating with some of the industry’s biggest casinos and working with dozens of talented studios to bring their games to market. To date, hundreds of thousands of players have enjoyed games built using Odobo technologies.

As our industry has evolved, it has become clear that marketplaces like ours require wider scale to survive in an increasingly complex and fragmented regulatory landscape. We needed to recognise that the velocity with which the business was growing was outpaced by the costs associated with providing the services that Odobo offered. As a result, we have made the very difficult decision to close the business.

Odobo will stop transacting on 31 May 2016 and close our offices by 10 June 2016. This decision was not taken lightly and we sincerely regret that it affects the partners and clients that have supported us.

We are proud of what we have achieved together and are grateful to the investors, developers, operators and suppliers who have been part of our journey.

Thank you all for your support.

Playtech:

Playtech, GTS, Casino Technology, ASH Gaming, Quickspin

You may be surprised to find Quickspin listed on the Playtech page? In 2016 Playtech have bought Swedish slot design company Quickspin for a deal of up to €50 million. Brilliant move by Playtech if you ask me!

Scientific Games:

WMS, Williams Interactive, SG Interactive, Scientific Games, Barcrest, Bally, Shuffle Master, Williams Studio

Scientific Games / SG Interactive is the parent company of the more famous WMS / Williams Interactive brand who have also bought or merged with other slot providers like Barcrest and Bally Gaming. Rather than making individual pages for each of these providers we are lumping them all into one easier to use page!

Pragmatic Play:

Pragmatic Play, Top Game, PP Multi, Rival, Betsoft, RTG, Parlay

1×2 Gaming
A small software firm who have produced slots like Candyland and Kitty Cash.

Amaya (Formerly Chartwell)
Best known for Merlins Millions and Mad Mad Monkeys, Amaya have a good portfolio of slots and are available at numerous online casinos.

Amigotechs
Amigotechs have a decidedly iffy reputation, have a small number of slots available and only run on a handful of (US facing) casinos. We probably will not be featuring any casinos with this software on our website due to the rogue nature of most casinos who feature this software.

Aristocrat
Aristocrat are an Australian slot development company who’s most famous slots include Miss Kitty, Queen of the Nile, Lightning Link slots and Pompeii.

Ash Gaming
See Playtech

BaddaMedia
This slot developer is very new and do not have many slots as yet. They are also not featured in very many casinos which is a shame since their slots seem to have a lot of promise.

Bally Media
See Williams Interactive

Barcrest
See Williams Interactive

BetSoft
BetSoft are something very unique. Their full 3D slots are unmistakeable. They have really exploited the regulations in the United States and are taking the US online gaming market by storm!

Blue Gem Gaming
See Sheriff Gaming

Blueprint Gaming
Blueprint Gaming do not have a massive assortment of slots just yet but they are growing and are innovating. They are perhaps most known for the excellent Worms slot.

BossMedia

Casino Interaction
See Playtech

Cryptologic
Doctor Love and Bejewelled would be the most known slots from this developer.

CTXM
See GamesOS

Dragonfish (Formerly Random Logic)
This slot developer provides bingo and many other forms of online gambling software and was originally set up by 888 but now works independently of the 888 group so you can find it’s slots at more casinos than just the 888 group. Notable slots include Big Brother, Alice in Wonderland, Irish Eyes, Zuma and a personal favourite of this site, Cops ‘n Robbers.

Electracade
See OpenBet

EnDeMol Games
These are slots and games based around classic TV shows like Deal or no deal, Big Brother, etc.

Endorphina
The slots from this company are unique, good looking and hugely entertaining. Origami is one you need to see for yourself, while Minotaurus and a few others can give you ridiculously large wins from a single spin.

Fremantle Media
Most of their slots are based around classic TV shows such as Baywatch, Blockbusters, X-Factor etc.

Gambling Federation
Another slot maker who is unlikely to feature anywhere on our recommendations due to most of the casinos using this software being rogue. No great loss if we’re totally honest.

GamesOS
You may well recognise Pipezilla and Space Robbers out of their portfolio.

Genesis Games
Provider of old school online slots.

GTech
This software company is another small player in he online casino market. Probably most famous for its Medusa slot.

IGT (Formerly WagerWorks)
IGT are huge in both land casinos and online. Their famous slots include KittyGlitter, Da Vinci Diamonds, 1000 Pandas, Ghostbusters and many many more. They should need little introduction really!

iSoftBet
iSoftBet are growing at a huge rate, small and relatively unknown but due to their stunning slots they are due to gain a good foothold in the industry. Try their slots like Happy Birds, Rambo and Ambiance out.

Leander Games
Leander games have a steady following and are available in a number of casinos, though in our opinion the slots are in general a bit behind the times in both design and execution. Megadeth being an example, outdated group for an outdated slot!

Mazooma Interactive
See Dragonfish

Merkur
Merkur slot machines are hugely popular in land based casinos in Germany and The Netherlands and are now making their way online at casinos such as Leo Vegas.

Microgaming/Quickfire
This company should need no introduction at all. They have been at the forefront of online slots for many years and even though the last couple of years they haven’t really progressed as we would have expected, they can still boast some of the very best slots there are: Jurassic Park remains an all time classic, Battlestar Gallactica, Triangulation to name just 3 of the 100’s! See all our Microgaming casinos HERE.

Multislot
Multislot slots are a lesser known brand and initially a little basic but they make up for this with very generous RTP’s and can be played here Video Slots.

Net Entertainment
Another of the big boys. Possibly the bigest slot provider of the moment, definately our personal number one. Both desktop and mobile their slots are silky smooth with graphics to put the other manufacturers to shame. Constantly innovating and trying new things, constantly reinventing the online slot, NetEnt are the absolute bees knees. And their rtp payouts are always decent to boot! We are big fans as you can probably tell. See all our NetEnt casinos HERE.

NextGen Gaming (NyX)
NextGen are one of the newer kids on the block, but one who are trying to really power their way into the top of the market. They have a quickly growing portfolio and if their new Psycho slot is anything to go on, they have a bright future on their hands.

Novomatic
Novomatic might be the most known name in the world, but they are definitely one of the top dogs in Europe. They certainly have the potential to upseat the likes of Playtech from the top table of slot makers.

NuWorks
A US facing slot maker, NuWorks are fairly new and as yet have not made a major splash on the market but given time we are hoping they can start to make their mark. The company is a subsidiary of RTG software developer.

Odobo (The Games Company)
A small player with a lot of potential featuring slots like Bill & Ted’s excellent adventure, Monster Mash, Rampage Riches.

OMI gaming
Gentle online slots such as Benny the Panda, Jungle Fruits and Princess Fortune.

OpenBet
OpenBet have been around since the 90’s and can be found at Playtech casinos amongst others. They are yet to really move with the times and most of their slots are looking a bit dated. Notable slots are the Top Trumps series of slots.

Oryx
With a portfolio including Wild Dolphins, Art Bandits, The Anaconda Eye, the future is looking bright for Oryx.

Play N’ Go
Now here is a very interesting and promising slot manufacturer. Their recent slot Tower Quest really set the bar high for all future releases. If you have not checked them out then head over here: Vera & John, Video Slots

Playtech
Playtech have been one of the top 5 slot makers for donkeys years. Their Marvel progressive jackpots have been the envy of the rest for a long time. In our opinion however they may be heading in a direction we are not comfortable with. Lower paying rtp than a lot of their rivals, moving away from their hugely popular Marvel brand and focusing on cartoony slots (aiming at children?) and not really innovating anything new or exciting. Time will tell if they can pull things around but if they carry on like this for a few more years we can see their market share take a dive. See our full listing of Playtech casinos HERE.

Rabcat
You may recognise Forsaken Kingdom, Dragons Myth and Castle Builder. Rabcat has it’s own unique style and are growing strong.

Realistic
See NyX

RealTime Gaming (RTG)
RTG have been around for years and are a leading light in the USA casino market. Their slots range from the more basic early slots to up to date modern versions. You can see all our recommended RTG casinos HERE.

Rival
Unfortunately despite providing high quality slot machines, we are not going to be recommending very many Rival casinos. The reason for this being a mass issue of rogue Rival casinos that crept up in the late 00’s and still exists today. Here is a list of Rival casinos we can recommend to varying degrees: HERE.

RWG
There may at time of writing only be one online slot from this company but what a great slot it is: Pandamonium. RWG is a Dutch company who have been making offline slot machines for Dutch casinos for many years and have finally decided to make a foray into the online slot world. And we are glad they did. We are really looking forward to seeing a band of new slots coming out of this developer in the summer of 2015. You can test these slots for yourself in demo mode here: Omni Slots.

Saucify (Formerly BetOnSoft)
Another USA facing slot maker and an interesting one at that. Their graphics are not up there yet with the very best, but their slots are good fun all the same. There are some rogue and iffy Saucify casinos which is one of the reasons they re-branded from BetOnSoft so they could try and gain a newer better reputation. See all our Saucify casinos HERE.

Scientific Gaming
See Williams Interactive

Sheriff Gaming
A relative newcomer on the scene but they arived with a bang! Some of the best looking slots on the market including the likes of Mr Magoos Adventure, Mr Good, Crazier Jewelery and more. Update: Sheriff gaming is now under the stewardship of Blue Gem Gaming.

SlotEnt
SlotEnt is the slot supplier for the USA casinos Winaday and Slotland. These slots really offer something different to the norm for online casinos, with excellent graphics and novel gameplay you can have a good time at either of the two casinos that feature them: Winaday Casino, Slotland Casino

Thunderkick
Here is another smaller slot maker who is trying to push the boundaries of what we can expect in an online casino. Their novel gameplay and graphics are a really refreshing breath of fresh air. Arcader, Esqueleto Explosivo, Fruit Warp, Sunny Scoops, you can tell this is a company with a sense of humour!

Top Game
Top Game is a small American studio which although lacking in depth and quantity, still provides some interesting slots. They are now referred to as Pragmatic Play.

Viaden
Viaden are more a back end software supplier but have a small range of slots like Non Stop Party, House of Scare.

WGS/WGT (Vegas Technology)
A producer of some old school favourites but haven’t as yet really moved with the times. At least they are USA friendly though. Try out their classics like Cool Bananas here: Miami Club

Williams Interactive (WMS)
Williams Interactive are everythere, owning brands such as Barcrest, Bally, Scientific Interactive and more. With so many cult slots under their belt it could take half an hour for you to read them all. Monopoly Big Event, Kiss, Bruce Lee, Elvis, Spartacus, etc etc. Check our list of where to play them HERE.

Yggdrasil Gaming
A Scandinavian company named after the mythical tree of life, Yggdrasil. A new kid on the lock who is trying to be different. Slots like Jokerizer, Reef Run, Winterberries and their new progressive Joker Millions. They have a unique style and a unique gameplay.
