Theme Park Tickets of Fortune NetEnt slot review:

You have seen the trailer and this online slot looks fantastic right? Well hmmmm, I am not so sure. It definitely looks amazing and they have gone overboard on the graphics, animations and mini games. In theory this is a fantastic slot, online slot of the year potential. Unfortunately for this reviewer the guys at NetEnt have made one fatal flaw. And that is in the excitement and anticipation department.

Here is the problem: there are two ways of triggering the bonuses. The first is by landing the 3 scatters on reels 3, 4 and 5. This starts the ticket wheel. The second way of triggering the bonus is by landing the wheel on reel 5. This starts the wheel bonus which has the potential of giving you one of the mini games, or giving you the theme park ticket bonus. Sounds fair enough except that the individual mini games don’t really pay too much by themselves. The fishing mini game and the duck hunt game can pay reasonable amounts but not really casino busting pay outs. And the ticket bonus, well you kind of know what you are getting before you even enter the theme park because you know how many tickets you have won. That takes away some of the excitement.

There is also the random grabber machine bonus won by landing the grabber symbol on reel 5. This picks a random fluffy animal and gives a random small prize.

Here’s how I would have fixed this slot without changing too much.

Just have one way of triggering the bonuses, and make it land more often. Perhaps by having the bonus wheel on reel 1 and reel 5 giving the old school element of excitement when landing the first bonus wheel symbol.

In the bonus wheel I would add the grabber machine to the wheel.

I would lose the theme park ticket bonus, instead I would have the theme park bonus mean that if the player wins this bonus, they get to have one turn on each of the theme park mini games (including the grabber machine).

In this manner there are plenty of bonuses, mainly small ones but with the potential of one properly sizeable bonus round by winning access to the entire theme park.

Simple. This is just my opinion however but I really do feel like NetEnt have been dropping the ball with every slot release in 2016 to date. Loads of potential in all the new games but alas lacking the finesse and play ability that is really needed to make long lasting fun slots.
