The largest progressive jackpot network in the online gaming industry, Microgaming’s Mega Moolah, has produced another winner and broken its own Guinness world record for the largest jackpot payout in an online slot machine game in the process.
On September 28, 2018, a lucky player on the Grand Mondial Casino made a 75 cent bet while playing from an Android mobile device. A moment later that player (who wishes to remain anonymous) found his or her self on the receiving end of a €18,915,872.81 payout (£16,525,625.29). As with all of Microgaming’s progressive jackpot wins, the winner will receive their payout in one lump payment.
This life-changing sum tops the previous record — set back in 2015 by a previous Mega Moolah win at the Betway Casino — by about €1.1 million.
Amazingly, this is not the first jackpot win to be hit on the Mega Moolah network this year. The game has already made millionaires of several more players in 2018. A €2.4 million prize was won in January. Another €4.7 million was paid out in February. March saw another player walk away with €4.3 million. Then, in April, yet another lucky gambler playing at the Grand Mondial Casino scored a prize worth €4.6 million.
Coincidentally, NetEnt’s Mega Fortune Mega Jackpot was also hit on September 28, but the news of the €3,467,888 win was quickly overshadowed by Mega Moolah’s record breaker.
Microgaming originally unleashed Mega Moolah as a single safari-themed slot in 2006 but has since added Mega Moolah Isis, Mega Moolah Summertime, and Mega Moolah 5 Reel Drive, all of which are tied into and contribute to the overall progressive jackpot. All of the Mega Moolah slots are five-reel, 25 pay line slots with an average jackpot payout of about €4.5 million every nine weeks.
If you’ve never played Mega Moolah, you can check it out at any of our favourite Microgaming casinos. The Microgaming progressive jackpot network has paid out more than €948 million so far. The next winner just might be you!
