Progressive jackpots are run by the casino software company. The funds for the progressives are paid to and held by them until the jackpot drops.
At this point they pay the full jackpot to the casino where the jackpot was won.
The casino then pays this amount to the player.
In the past Joyland held on to the jackpot and wished to pay a player in monthly installments of 9k over a 4m jackpot! They ended up making a deal to pay the customer half in one lump sum and pocketed the rest!
Will Hill has since taken ownership of these casinos and whilst the William Hill casino itself plays progressives by the book, the above casinos are a little vague in their terms and conditions.
We contacted the casinos to get clarification but they have refused to give us a straight answer.
