Interview with two casino owners

Interview with the owners of Casino Ventura

Casino Ventura officially opened in early 2016 so we decided to catch up with the owners Sebastiaan & Denis and find out more about them and about this exciting new casino.

Hi guys, welcome and thanks for talking to us.

You had been in the online casino industry for a while before starting your own casino… You started as affiliates so what made you want to set up your own casino?

  • Sebastiaan & Denis:

We’ve always dreamed of managing our own casino. We thought the casino market to be too much dark, and want to brighten it up. By the end of 2010 we started to seriously look in to the possibilities offered all over the internet and started to build.

And what was it you were doing in your previous incarnations – before entering the online gaming market – and what was it that drove you towards this dream of owning your own online casino?

  • Denis:

I have studied real estate at the University of Applied Science in Holland. I successfully finished my study in 2014. But the love that I have developed during my University period for online gaming made switch careers into the online gambling market. It was at that moment, that I understood what I wanted to do with my life.

  • Sebastiaan:

After my commercial economics and management studies I’ve worked for several large companies, in different sectors like health insurance, telecom, and energy companies.

What are the key reasons that will stand you out from the rest of the market, and what do you offer your players that others can’t?

  • Sebastiaan:

At Casino Ventura we offer our players a unique choice. Most players like to play with deposit bonuses. For those players we offer a bonus on every deposit. The absolute highlight is that the players can claim 100% bonus on every 5th deposit again.

  • Denis:

There are also players that prefer to play without bonuses. Those players are able to claim 10% cashback on every deposit.

We have an outstanding game collection with over 700 high quality games, one of the largest collections online.

  • Sebastiaan:

And last but not least, we have a supreme mobile casino environment, where more than 300 games are instantly playable on all most used devices.

What can we expect to see happening in the future at Casino Ventura? Do you have any major expansion plans or radical changes planned or will you be concentrating on building and maintaining what you have so far for the time being?

  • Sebastiaan:

We’ve recently had two major upgrades. First we’ve improved our support service, by adding more agents to our team. As a result, Casino Ventura support is now available in more than ten different languages, all days of the year.

The second upgrade was adding the award winning Evolution Gaming to our game collection. When it concerns Live Casino games, Evolution is definitely on the top of the industry standards.

  • Denis:

The next major upgrade will be site translations in various languages, such as Russian, Spanish and German. This will make us even more approachable for the specific markets.

How do you see the online gambling industry progressing and changing over the next few years?

  • Sebastiaan:

It’s always difficult of course to predict the future, but there are certain signals can’t be ignored. First is that mobile gaming is expending, and it’s logical to assume it will keep growing in the coming years. The biggest advantage of playing in a trusted new casino is that the newest technologies are used during construction. Since the technology is changing rapidly, elder casinos are often behind in renewing their mobile environment.

  • Denis:

Another interesting trend is the Virtual Reality. Our expectation is that within a few years it will become a major factor in not only the online casino industry, but I think we will see many different industries rapidly change like the gaming, movie and dating industry.

Do you have any thoughts regarding the growth of the Bitcoin virtual currency (or any other virtual currency currently in development)?

  • Sebastiaan:

I’m personally very interested in the development of these virtual currencies, but so far none of them have proven to be stable enough. With time, virtual currencies could have the potential to outgrow the classic currencies.

  • Denis:

I agree with Sebastiaan. Virtual currencies have huge potential, but they are not stable enough at the moment.

What about Virtual Reality casino games, do you see VR finally taking off and have you any plans on doing something with it at Casino Ventura?

  • Denis:

Virtual Reality is a major factor because it will change player’s perception. As casino operator we need to follow the progress of this development.

  • Sebastiaan:

It is definitely an interesting development, and we’re always looking for ways to improve the casino. When the time is right, VR games will be added to our collection.

Is there anything in particular you would like to see change in the online gambling industry and the online casino industry in particular?

  • Sebastiaan & Denis:

We’ve always found it impossible to understand how it is possible there are still casinos operating that are proven to have rigged games, or don’t pay their players. This casinos give the market a very bad reputation, and it always the player that has to suffer the consequences.

As you will know (with you being Dutch of course), the Dutch legislators are voting on bringing in licensing for Dutch online gambling, how do you think this will affect your company and will you be looking to gain a license so that you can advertise to the Dutch market?

  • Denis:

It will be very difficult for us to get the Dutch gambling license because we are not first in line. Many big casino operators are already in negotiations with the Dutch legislators.

  • Sebastiaan:

Don’t expect us on the first day that the licences are handed out, but for the future it is definitely something that we are looking into.

What do you think of licensing and regulation in general?

  • Sebastiaan:

My honest opinion is that is shouldn’t matter which license a company has, because it should be obvious that gaming should be fair, and the business behind it should be transparent. Most licenses don’t even make sure that casinos have to do this. So, in my opinion, it’s not the license that proves the casino’s trustworthiness, but the casino itself.

  • Denis:

It’s very important that there’s licensing and regulation in our business. But I agree with Sebastiaan that the casinos should better compliance the rules that these license and regulation commission impose. These casinos give the market a bad reputation.

When applying for a license in The Netherlands would you be wary of Holland Casino and companies like Hommerson launching on the day the market becomes regulated. (For those readers not familiar with the Dutch market, Holland Casino is the only regulated land based casino in The Netherlands and are state run, and Hommerson has been a giant in the fruit machine arcades for many decades).

  • Denis:

These are off course very known company’s in Holland. But the Dutch players are also very excited to see what the online gambling market has more to offer. So I expect them to have a good run. But they are new to the online gambling market so it wouldn’t be easy to maintain the high standards.

  • Sebastiaan:

It’s obvious that they will try to dominate the market from the first day. Since they are known to many offline players in the Netherlands, I’m sure many Dutch players will give them a try. But the online market is expending, and many new players will start looking for the best quality, the best games, and the best service. I’m very curious to see if these big offline companies can deliver and maintain the high standards that are expected.

I am sure there are many would be entrepreneurs out there who are dreaming of one day emulating you and opening up their own online gaming establishment. Do you have any warnings and advice for them?

  • Sebastiaan & Denis:

Create a winning team. Nobody can do it alone. Work only with people that you trust and make sure everybody benefits from success.

Do you also have any advice or pointers for online casino affiliates, either established or just starting out?

  • Sebastiaan:

Be creative! Every new development goes through 3 stages; first it’s impossible, then it’s not allowed, and in the third stage you realise you should have done it much earlier. Perseverance and patience are keywords for every entrepreneur.

  • Denis:

And don’t forget that the most important is you’re willing to work hard and make long days. It will pay of eventuality!

And do you have any special words about our beloved Slots Guide?

  • Sebastiaan:

Where I had criticism before about bad casinos, Slots Guide managed, because of their impressive process of intensive testing, to keep all the wrong casinos away from the readers. I have the utmost respect for you guys, and I hope you can keep up the great work that you are doing!

  • Denis:

The way you work and handle things is very nice. You know what you’re doing and you know the online gambling market very well. We love you’re site and we have high hopes for you in the future guys.

Thank you so much for taking the time out of your obviously insanely busy schedule to talk to us, do you have any final words you would like to share with our readers?

  • Sebastiaan & Denis:

It has been a real pleasure talking to you guys, thanks for having us! We wish everybody much Ventura (good fortune)!
